Former longtime Meta chief operating officer will not remain on the company’s board after her term ends in May. She made the announcement in a Facebook post on Wednesday. Sandberg spent more than 14 years as the company’s COO and 12 years on its board. She stepped down from her COO role in fall 2022. Sandberg stated that she would be leaving the parent company’s board to focus on philanthropic work but will continue to serve as an advisor to Meta. The current leadership team under CEO Mark Zuckerberg has been praised by Sandberg. She joined the company in 2008 after holding senior roles at Google and the US government. During her tenure, she helped grow the company’s revenue and became one of the most influential women in tech. Meta’s annual revenue in 2022 was $116.6 billion.
